Current and past members of the ECL presented papers at the AAG meeting in Washington D.C. in April 2019. Emily Niederman presented a paper, co-authored with Prof. Bahadhur Kotlia (Kumaun University, India) and Dr. Jeff Speakman (UGA), entitled, Tracing Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) variability from the Mid-Holocene to the present in Uttarakhand, India using X-ray fluorescence (XRF). Evidence for the occurrence of a severe fire event in Great Basin National Park, NV during the late 15th century documented by Stephen Cooper was discussed at the meeting. Dr. Jiaying Wu presented a paper, co-authored with Sally Horn (University of Tennessee), on hydroclimate variability during the Terminal Classic Drought and the Medieval Climate Anomaly in the northern tropical Americas. Dr. Jiaying Wu published a paper describing multi-decadal to sub-centennial-scale hydroclimate variability in the glacial highlands in ChirripĆ³ National Park, Costa Rica.
